Christmas Red Painted with Syrian Children Blood

December 2013 witnessed an increase in massacres against Syrian civilians .

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) issued at the beginning of the month the latest numbers on the casualties of the on-going war in Syria. The latest statistics shows an increase in the numbers of civilian casualties.

Bloody Massacres

The new statistics shows a big increase in the numbers of civilian casualties rising around 24% compared to the previous month to reach to 1885 deaths in 31 days. More than one fifth of the casualties are amongst children which increased in more than 47% compared to November 2013.

Pace of Battles Slows Down

Numbers of militant deaths during December 2013 has decreased more than one third. For the first time since months, the number of deaths in the camp of the regime’s forces and allies exceeded that in the side of the opposition militants.

It is noticeable that number of deaths within Regime’s ally militias has dropped more than 80% compared to the previous month of November. This is could be a result of the end of Qalamon battles at the beginning of December.

Number of deaths amongst the militants (especially the opposition) is expected to rise this month tremendously as the Syrian civil war enters a new stage of battles amongst the different opposition factions especially North and East of Syria in Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant’s stronghold.
