Latest Casualties Statistics: Civilians Paying the Price in Syria

In November, Assad forces and Al-Qaeda linked groups continues targeting civilians in Syria in efforts to terrorize them.

The revolution’s pulse in the Syrian cities and country side is still beating. Targeting unarmed civilians managed to weaken that pulse but did not kill it yet.

Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) issued at the beginning of the month the latest numbers on the casualties of the on-going war in Syria. The latest statistics shed light on new developments on ground.

Hizbollah is Back

Last summer, Hizbollah fighters aided the Syrian regime in breaking the anti-regime fighters in Qusair battles. A period of relative calmness for Hizbollah fighters followed these battles.

Hizbollah is back in the battles that seem to be intensifying especially on Qalamon axis in Damascus’ country side. Hizollah’s interference remains limited to the border battles and throughout their supply lines until now. Nonetheless, the situation might aggravate quickly, and soon enough, Hizbollah’s fighters might be drawn into muddy battles inside Syria.

Opposition’s Capabilities Developing

Number of deaths amongst the regime’s forces and their allies is evening with number of deaths on the other side for the first time since the start of the revolution. This could be due to opposition militias receiving more developed arms within the past couple of months.

Civilians on the Horns of a Dilemma

The number of civilian deaths in November has increased compared to previous months. Nonetheless, this month witnessed a decrease in the percentage of civilians to militants deaths.
